PROJECT IDEA AND BACKGROUND
Consolidation into a single control system for cathodic protection stations (CPS) provides improvement of its effectiveness. Mitigation of operational conditions variation of CPS allows to improve the protection quality and to reduce consumption of electric energy as well as the wastes of anode material.
Systems of underground pipelines corrosion protection, various metal objects, which destruction leads to undesirable environmental consequences.
Creating an automatic control system for the joint operation of individual CPS based on their specific characteristics. This mode of cathodic protection station’s operation provides minimum consumption of electrical energy, at the same time ensuring sufficient protection quality.
PROJECT OUTCOMES, EXPECTED RESULTS AND THEIR BENEFITS
The project outcomes are:
- increased stability of the system of electrochemical corrosion protection in the event of failure of one (or more) CPS due to the intensification of modes of other stations;
- better distribution of protective potential (reducing its oscillation along the pipeline) because of the possibility for simultaneous (joint) control of several stations of cathodic protection;
- slower corrosive process caused by the change in the value of protection potential along the length of the protected pipeline;
- methods of object parameters’ forecast, based on preliminary analysis of the results of measurements of coordinates electrochemical control stations.
